The Boat

Crystal Blue Persuasion is a 55′ Catamaran custom designed by John Marples of Jim Brown and John Marples Design. Construction was coordinated by owner Larry Burgin in Charleston Harbor, Oregon and began in 1999. She was always meant to be a charter boat in the Mayan Riviera and finally, in October 2008, things lined up and she was sailed with Mr. Burgin, his son, Gary, and various other crew members and participated in the annual cruisers rally, the Baja Haha.

The hulls consist of five layers of 3mm acume wood with a fiberglass shell. Everything is sealed together with West System Epoxy. In addition to the main sail and jib, there are 2 Yanmar 140 engines, one in each hull.

Inside, there is a spacious salon with a bar and two dining tables. There are 4 cabins and a total of 6 berths. There is a head on either side separating the cabins. She can accommodate 6–12 people sleeping and up to 49 people afloat.

Crystal Blue Persuasion arrived in Mahahual December 26, 2008.
